Take a seat…..or two….or two hundred!
On August 22nd 2014 we shall be welcoming guests back to The Plaza after being closed from Sunday 10th August as we screen in a blaze of glory a 20th birthday presentation of the magnificent feature film ‘The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert’.
As we open the doors to our beautiful auditorium we shall have stepped back in time to October 7th 1932, the date when Stockports 1932 Art Deco Super Cinema and Variety Theatre was originally opened as we will have installed 1317 new ‘replica’ seats which will be an exact match of those in situe for the very first patrons who entered their glamorous new venue built in the heart of Stockport.
Our exisiting seats which have served us well but are not original seats from 1932, are currently for sale either on EBAY or by contacting Ted Doan on 0161 480 3818 or ted.doan@stockportplaza.co.uk so why not support the ongoing Maintenance and Restoration appeal by literally buying a seat for your local Super Cinema and Variety Theatre!.
Full details of the exciting creation and restoration of our new seating which is being expertly managed by Gary Trinder our Vice Chairman and Technical Director can be found on the fascinating ‘Restoration Update’ section of this web site featuring images such as this of our ‘new’ seating showing one of our Circle and Stalls seats which are ready for installation.
