Stockports new Bus Station Interchange opens…

The Plaza has had a close relationship with our Bus Station for over 90 glorious years when the original waiting bays were located directly outside the venue and then over the years with changes of style the bus station moved to the opposite side of Wellington Road North and was located nestling between the main road and the Viaduct.

A new Stockport Interchange opened today with superb facilities and a direct link across ‘Viaduct Park’ to the train station and the best of both worlds for The Plaza with the majority of bus station stops still located on the footprint of the 1970’s now replaced bus station, whilst stops and a fabulous new entrance are back in front of The Plaza roughly where they were in the 1930s when we opened.

Well done to everyone involved including Transport For Greater Manchester and Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council for a great job very well done.
