Organist Corner is looking Swell!

Works have commenced to restore a set of pass steps leading to backstage at The Plaza which will become a gallery in tribute to our magnificent Organists past and present who have entertained our guests since the installation of our magnificent MIGHTY COMPTON ORGAN in 1932.

There is a fascinating feature in this area which accomodates a small pass door that generations of organists have used over the decades to grant access to backstage avoiding any disruption of light flooding into the auditorium during presentations and alongside our early Organists such as Mr Harry Speed and Mr Cecil Chadwick, our present professional Organists will be having portrait photographs taken which will be framed and displayed in pride of place in ‘Organists Corner’

Once our framed photographs are in place this will make a fascinating area to enjoy whilst visiting The Plaza on future tours and will also act as a lasting tribute to our magnificent musicians who bring such delight to our guests.
