Restoration Update – 02.08.23

Works have commenced for the 5th time in the Plaza’s history to replace the existing stage due to some repair works required with a new stage that will be perfect for decades to come.

Our esteemed Technical Manager Rosie Holdaway who has painstakingly organised the preparation, planning and purchase of timbers for the stage has brought in her team of ‘Rosie’s Angels’ consisting of our amazing Techncial Team here at The Plaza supported by the ‘Heaton’s Men In Sheds’ to remove the current stage and prepare the frame for the new stage to be fitted.

The wood suplied by Stockport Timber has been delivered and the team have made a great start lifting the stage platform to reveal the joists that will be the base for the new stage coverings.

Various groups who have been invited to use the removed timber have been joining us to take away and recycle quantities of the word for theatre works, craft projects and even for creating garden furnitue!

A section of the 4th stage incarnation which was a recycled basket ball court allegedly used by The Harlem Globe Trotters will remain in situe.
