Restoration Update – 19.08.14

As 1250 blue and red seats finally leave the venue dispersed to be enjoyed in Cinemas, Small screening venues and private homes in locations as far afield as Hucknall in Nottinghamshire, London, Greater Manchester and Devon the works commence to install the increased seating capacity of 1317 seats.

With deep blue and antique gold moquette cladding which was originally advertised as giving a blue allure to the auditorium the seat installation is expertly undertken by seating specialists Kirwin and Simpson under the guidance of our Vice Chairman and Technical Director Gary Trinder who has been the driving force behind the exacting design and recreation of the seats which are an exact match of those in situe on opening day – October 7th 1932.
