Restoration Update – 20.01.14

As we head into 2014 we start the year with our circle restored to its original location and the rooms located behind the leaded glass windows in our auditorium accessible after being left dormant for over 70 years.

The year ahead will see exciting changes at The Plaza should our fundraising prove successful when we replace our entire seating stock with exact replicas of those in situe on opening day 1932 however that doesnt mean we havent resumed the ongoing maintenance and restoration of our Art Deco gem where we left off at the beginning of our busy Pantomime run.

Our expert team of heritage paint specialists returned to The Plaza this week to commence painting the full height of the new ‘Window Rooms’ which are now in use with a white wash that will reflect the light ommitted behind the windows to create a visually stunning effect as the LED colour changes take place when our house lights are lit.
