Restoration Update – 22.08.14
With the finishing touches expertly completed by the seating specialists from Kirwin and Simpson, the company awarded the contract to replace all 1317 of The Plaza seats with exact replicas of those in situe on our opening day of October 7th 1932, your Plaza Super Cinema and Variety Theatre is ready to welcome you back in our beautifully restored auditorium.
Special thanks should be extended to the team from Kirwin and Simpson alongside our carpet manufacturers Brintons who have recreated the ‘allure’ of the auditorium so famously detailed in our opening brochure, whilst this project would not have been as succesful as it has turned out to be without the expert guidance and dedication of Gary Trinder our Vice Chairman and Technical Director who managed this aspect of our restoration with his his usual professional focus and vision therefore a particular vote of thanks is extended to Gary Trinder.
Our Chairman Nigel Anderton and his fellow board of directors alongside our dedicated staff and volunteers deserve a resounding thank you for their dedication and ongoing commitment to our Restoration project and finally an enormous thank you to you….for without the ongoing support of your patronage we would be unable to lovingly restore Stockports 1932 Art Deco Super Cinema and Variety Theatre.
