Restoration Update – 27.02.14
The final part of our auditorium lighting restoration is finally complete under the expert guidance of Gary Trinder, Vice Chairman and Technical Director of The Plaza with the installation of LED footlights to replicate the original lighting effect in situe on the opening night of The Plaza on the 7th October 1932.
Following restoration recently of the foot light troughs which were uncovered during the restoration of the stage, funds including a generous donation by the ‘Friends of The Plaza’ were invested in the latest LED lighting that could replicate the original effect which brings the house tableaux to glorious life with its rich glow of glorious coloured light.
The lighting effect which can change in line with the auditorium lighting gives us a completed restoration of the lighting and with the scheduled replacement of all 1250 seats later in the year the restoration of this part of our magnificent 1932 Art Deco Super Cinema and Variety Theatre will be close to completion.
