The World’s Oldest Working Theatre Organist Celebrates 90th Birthday at The Plaza
THE WORLD’S OLDEST WORKING THEATRE ORGANIST CELEBRATES 90TH BIRTHDAY AT THE PLAZA
DAVE NICHOLAS of Birkenhead has loved the cinema organ since he was a young man and is best known for being organist for the film programme at Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall.
Now known as the world’s oldest working theatre organist and still brimming with enthusiasm, we wanted him to play an organ in an original cinema once again to mark his 90th birthday which takes place this month.
So Dave Nicholas will be playing the Plaza’s Mighty Compton Organ for our coffee morning on Saturday 19th July – and we welcome you to come and celebrate his 90th birthday with us!
Also paying him musical tributes will be fellow organists Michael Holmes, Charles Brown and Andrew Moody.
The coffee morning runs from 11.00 am to 2.00 pm. Admission is free, with refreshments, Plaza souvenirs and other goodies on sale.
We hope to see you there!
