SABRINA DAY
The Plaza proudly celebrates ‘Sabrina Day’, on what would have been her 87th Birthday year, with one of the many films that made her a star.
Sid Gibson (Sid James) is a soap powder salesman who decides what he really needs is TV advertising. The problem is, he’s absolutely broke. He calls upon his friend Arthur Ashton (Arthur Askey), who arranges to sneak a plug for Sid’s suds into a live TV spectacular. The public goes bananas for the product but to maintain sales Sid and Arthur must arrange for ever more outrageous plugs on TV shows. The Ascot races, the Edinburgh Military Tattoo – no show is safe.
Include a cameo appearance by Sabrina to the fun and mayhem and this is British Film Comedy at its very best.
Organist on The Mighty Compton Organ: Mr Charles Brown.
